For any that are curious, sabbatical is related to the word sabbath. Many Christians call Sunday the Sabbath, however the word sabbath comes from the Hebrew word shabbat, which means "rest". Shabbat is also the Hebrew word for Saturday, and Shabbat services begin Friday night. The related word shabbetai is Hebrew for the planet Saturn. The word Saturday, comes from the Roman god Saturn, for which his day is named "Saturn's Day". Just a bit of word trivia... oh, and Sunday isn't the Sabbath.
Sabbatical also happens to be a benefit that my company gives. Every seven years, we are given six weeks off to take, which we must contribute between two and four weeks of our own vacation to. So we get between eight and ten weeks off.
